I was told that if I put the dic that restored only the factory progams into my big Dell Studio I could then add the programs to do everything it was supposed to do. So I put that disc in and followed all the directions and then it restarted. Only thing is that now it's saying "your computer restarted unexpectedly. Press okay to restart your computer and continue to install Windows." So I press Okay and it says"your computer restarted unexpectedly" etc, etc. And no matter how many times I unplug it and then try again I get that same message.
Does anyone have an idea? Um, an idea about the computer, not that, Harv!

Sounds like your installation corrupted. Have you tried to boot off the CD instead of the drive?
What model is your Dell? You've probably got a restore partition on your hard drive and don't need that CD at all.
But itm won't get past that message. It simply will not start. The CD no the restore partition will work if the durned thing won't start.

Could be F10 or F12 instead of F8, depends on your model, but this is an easy tutorial...
They say no news is good news, but in this instance I don't think so...
Judging from your story, it's either the CD you inserted has a virus or your computer already has one. Do you scan your computer regularly? I suggest you do. It's one of the most important ways to preserve your computer and your money.
I agree with Benita. Not only that, you should also defrag your computer every once in a while, especially if you've uninstalled or deleted a huge number of files just recently. If your computer is not on auto defragmentation, that is.
